A tortured patient...history...aswang - sound familiar? That's all I'll say on that.
Yam Laranas is a very talented Filipino filmmaker who released his debut film 'Sigaw' (The Echo) about 4 years back, which was probably the most suspense filled Filipino horror film I had seen to that point. It has recently been made into an Americanized version (big surpirse) by Lam Laranas himself. Let's hope he faired better than the Pang Brothers with their Americanized 'The Eye' - or even worse the 'Bangkok Dangerous' remade waste of celluloid. I love the Pang Brother's films - really love them. But they don't seem to fair well under the American audience sensibilities - or lack thereof?
Back to Yam Laranas, he has a new film which I am very excited to see - 'Patient X'. It gets into the recent history of the aswang as a social control method. Really cool! Here is some more info about it.
